The course notes are designed to follow the spirit of the Microsoft Official Curriculum 20483, while bringing it completely up-to-date with the latest features of C#,.NET 6.0 and Visual Studio 2019.

This course is structured as follows:
The first five days of the course are spent working with C# and.NET, with a focus on syntax and program structure.
The final four days of the course are spent building a.NET application. The application is designed to demonstrate the features of C# and.NET.
Each student is required to submit a programming assignment every week. The programming assignment is due on the Wednesday before the next class (e.g. the Wednesday before the next class starts on the third Monday of the month), and students are expected to hand in their code and answer any questions in a timely manner (i.e. before the end of the second week of the class). The programming assignment is designed to be a challenge and use a variety of different approaches to explore the language, so that the students are forced to learn not just the language, but also how to understand the problem they are attempting to solve and how to implement it. The programming assignment is a great way for students to get a feel for the language, and to see how the language can be applied to solve real-world problems. The programming assignment should not take more than 30–60 minutes to complete, and should consist of up to 3 different approaches to solve the problem.
Some applications, such as Java, require that the application directories and libraries are updated to a newer version before the user can update. However, there are some applications that are not explicitly API-specific, such as the X Window System, the X server source code, are automatically updated as required.
