The Tour de Georgia, organized by the United States Road Racing Champions, is an annual 100-mile (161 km) bicycle race held in early October in the U.S. state of Georgia. The first edition was held in 2004, with the purpose of promoting the sport of cycling in the area. The race will become part of the UCI America Tour in the 2019 season.
The race is organized by the Georgia Road Racing Association, and is one of the events on the inaugural US Pro Road Challenge calendar in 2019.

The pathophysiology of tissue damage associated with the development of bone bruises and fractures is poorly understood and the development of suitable techniques for their in vivo evaluation by use of imaging modalities is a major challenge. Information regarding the nature and distribution of the damaged tissue in bone bruises will provide necessary and accurate information to guide the diagnosis, management, and therapy of these entities.
In the present study, we investigated the potential usefulness of single-energy X-ray absorptiometry as a non-invasive tool to detect and locate mandibular bone bruises in a rat model. To create mandibular bone bruises, tibias were fractured transversally in rats using a unilateral closed fall from a height of 50 cm. The animals were killed 2, 4, and 6 days after the fracture and scanned in a preclinical dual X-ray energy absorptiometry system to obtain whole-body images. The scans identified new bone and trabecular bone mineral density increases at fracture sites in contrast to control sides, which exhibited no changes. The localization of the fractures by single-energy X-ray absorptiometry was precise and the images revealed the fracture sites with a high degree of anatomical resolution. Histological analysis demonstrated that the fracture sites were also associated with bone marrow edema, inflammatory cell infiltration, and fracture callus formation. The data from the present study suggest that dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scanning is a valuable tool for detecting and localizing bone bruises in vitro, which 0b46394aab
